Love to write about food? Want to win $5,000? Then you need to enter Gourmet Recipe’s Blog Festival! And good news: The deadline for submissions has been extended to August 31, 2012.
Participating is easy. Just apply to be a guest blogger, over on this page. You’ll then receive notification of where you can publish a blog post at Gourmet Recipe. The post must include your own original recipe and at least one photograph of that recipe. You may also link back to your own blog.
Gourmet Recipe is happy to announce its first annual blog festival, will be held from November 1st to January 30th! During this time we will be celebrating the best and brightest of the food blogging community, and will allow them to expand their audience, share their recipes, and win a grand prize of $5,000!
The rules of the festival are simple. Apply as a guest blogger for Gourmet Recipe using the form on this page. Once you’re approved you will be given an account that allows you to put a blog post on the Gourmet Recipe blog. The blog post must be of an original recipe that you have created and cooked, and must feature at least one photograph of the finished product. Your blog post can (and should!) include a link back to your own blog, to help interested readers find out about your personal food blog.
At the end of the period, the winning blog post will be judged on the following criteria:
1. The quality of the photograph(s): High quality images are important in cooking because presentation is a big part of preparing wonderful food. We will look for pictures that are clear and capture the beauty of the food prepared.
2. The quality of the blog post and recipe: When evaluating the entries in this contest we’ll be looking at both the recipe you have created, and the quality of how it is written. Does your post draw the reader in? Does it inform as well as entertain? Is your recipe easy to understand? A properly written blog post is very important to succeed in the contest.
3. The popularity of your blog post: Are a lot of people coming to your post to read it? It’s usually a sign that you’ve captured the interest of visitors or that they’re coming back to re-read your recipe. How many people read your post is an important factor so make sure you send your blog visitors to check it out.
4. The number of comments on your post: Quality information and quality writing leads to comments from readers. It also helps us know which posts were so good that a visitor couldn’t help but comment on it.
5. The level of interaction: If your blog post is engaging it won’t just get comments, it will get conversation. Interaction between our readers will show that not only did you have a good recipe, but that you presented everything in such a way that your reader wants to respond and discuss. It’s often a good sign that people are trying your recipe and letting you know how it went.
All of these five factors are very important and we will be rating each blog post with a score of 1-10 on each area. The winner will be the blogger that has the highest score out of 50. Guest bloggers are not limited to only one post, and may enter as many times as they wish, but each blog post will be judged on its individual merit. The winning blogger will be announced on the Gourmet Recipe blog, with special recognition going to his or her blog. They will receive also grand prize cheque of $5,000.
